When: Saturday, September 25, 2010

Where: Trois-Rivières

             Terrain de l'Exposition

The World’s Largest Truck Convoy is an event at which truckers from all over gather to raise funds for Special Olympics Québec.

Participate in great numbers in the second Québec edition of this activity that already takes place in 35 American states and 3 Canadian provinces.

We would like to thank all enterprises that have participated to the 2008 Convoy.

The goal of the World’s Largest Truck Convoy is to bring together the largest number of trucks. They all meet at a specific location and from there, converge on a certain distance, one after the other, without interruption, towards a predetermined destination .

Upon their arrival, they are met by Special Olympics athletes, their families, their friends, their colleagues, law enforcement officers, the Special Olympics community and the organizers, companies and agencies that make up the trucking industry.

To participate, truckers must fill out the registration form and pay Special Olympics Québec a $100 participation fee.

  • Please note that no hazardous materials and no alcohol or tobacco logos are allowed in the convoy.

Inspired by the powerful impact of Special Olympics on his life following his participation in the Law Enforcement Torch Run and because his family was involved in the trucking industry, Orange County Sheriff's Department corporal Norm Schneiderhan came up with the idea of a truck convoy. This event has become a nationwide one-day celebration in the trucking industry which helps raise funds for Special Olympics.

From a small scale event held in Orlando, Florida, in 2001 at which only 97 trucks participated and $17,000 were raised, the Truck Convoy has spread to 35 American states and three Canadian provinces. In 2005, the 1,800 trucks in the world’s convoy helped raise a total of $405,000 US. The 2006 convoy took place last September 9 and more than 1,800 trucks took part, raising a total of $544,000 US for Special Olympics, an increase of more than 25% over 2005.
